Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions, including injuries, deformities, infections, and chronic issues like diabetes-related foot problems.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualised treatment plans, which may include medication, physical therapy, orthotics, or minor surgical procedures.
- Preventive Care: Provide education on foot care practices and preventive measures to reduce the risk of future foot problems.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as orthopedists, physical therapists, and primary care physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Medical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of foot and lower limb anatomy, conditions, and treatments.
- Manual Dexterity: Skilled in performing minor surgical procedures and using specialised podiatric equipment.
- Communication: Strong ability to explain diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop effective treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Licensure: A degree in podiatry and registration with the HCPC.
